How to Save Ourselves From the Wrath of God?

We all make mistakes. We learn from numerous examples in the Bible that, when we have violated the commandments of God to a certain extent, God's judgement will fall upon us. However, our all merciful God who is not willing for anyone to perish is always willing to give us a warning before executing His judgement. In the past, He did this through his prophets, and in the New Testament era, through the Holy Spirit.

What Should We Do to Save Ourselves?

     Humble Ourselves and Repent

First and foremost, we must humble ourselves and repent.

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14

This is God's promise to us! If we are willing to turn away from our evil ways, God is always ready to forgive us and receive us.

     Through Our Service to Others

In the Old Testament, prophets also taught us that we can escape the wrath of God through our service to others.

..... this is what the Lord has said: Do what is right in the morning, and make free from the hands of the cruel one him whose goods have been violently taken away, or my wrath will go out like fire, burning so that no one may put it out, because of the evil of your doings. ~ Jeremiah 21:12

In modern times, people often turn a blind eye to other people's sufferings. However, God's Word tells us that saving the oppressed is one of the most assured ways to save ourselves from the wrath of God! Prophet Daniel also gave similar advice to king Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon when God foretold him of His coming judgement. He advised the king that by doing righteous acts and showing mercy to the poor, it is possible to delay God's judgement on him.

O King, let my suggestion be pleasing to you, and let your sins be covered by righteousness and your evil-doing by mercy to the poor, so that the time of your well-being may be longer. ~ Daniel 4:27

Be Sensitive to the Holy Spirit

The problem is, most Christians today have become so insensitive to the Holy Spirit that they are not even aware when God's judgement is coming. Most people are so tied up to the world that they have already lost their connection with the Holy Spirit. To cope with this situation, our Lord Jesus has already taught us what to do two thousand years ago.

But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man. ~ Luke 21:34-36

WE MUST KEEP PRAYING, ALWAYS !
