Are We Not Supposed to Know the Time?

 

 

There is an interesting phenomena among many Christians nowadays that, whenever anyone talks about the Day of Jesus’ Second Coming, he or she will immediately be considered a heretic. These people often claim that they are acting on the following verse:

 

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. ~ Matthew 24:36

 

Their argument is, if Jesus Himself said no one knows the time except the Father, anyone who states that he or she knows the time must be a liar or a heretic! However, DOES THE BIBLE REALLY SAY SO?

 

 

No One Knows The Day and Hour

 

First, Jesus said “no one knows the day and hour”, but He did not say no one knows the time! In fact, Jesus Himself told His disciples the time of His Second Coming!

 

Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” ….. (Jesus answered) “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near — at the doors!” ~ Matthew 24:3-33

 

Jesus Himself told His disciples that when they see the signs, the end of the age and His Second Coming is near! What signs? False christs, wars and rumours of wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, persecution of Christians, false prophets, lawlessness, love grows cold, Gospel preached to all the nations, ‘abomination of desolation' spoken of by prophet Daniel, etc. All these signs have been written clearly in Matthew 24! Aren’t these signs seen in our everyday News Headlines? Can anyone still miss that? 

 

 

Does Noah Know the Time?

 

After Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, He immediately draws a parallel between His Second Coming and the Days of Noah. 

 

But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the Flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ~ Matthew 24:37-39

 

Jesus said the evil generation in Noah’s time did not know the Flood was coming, but did Noah know about it? Of course Noah did! Otherwise, why would he build the ark? why did he take animals into his ark? And why did all his family members go inside the ark? The Lord even told Noah the exact date 7 days before the Flood!

 

Then the Lord said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you and all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation. ….. For after seven more days I will cause it to rain on the earth forty days and forty nights, and I will destroy from the face of the earth all living things that I have made.” ~ Genesis 7:1-4

 

 

Christians Are NOT in the Dark!

 

Like Noah, the Bible tells us that Christians also should not be in the dark! God has already revealed His plans to us in the Scriptures, and He even gave us the Holy Spirit so we can understand. Not only should Christians know the times, but we should also give light to others.

 

We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. ~ 2 Peter 1:19

 

 

What is the Next Sign?

 

Christians have been told 2,000 years ago by Jesus that a final destruction will come, just like Noah had been told that the Flood would destroy the Earth.

 

However, God is fair and He will not judge the world until the Gospel has been preached to all nations and everyone given a chance to repent. So, has this criteria been fulfilled yet? Probably YES! With the rapid development of telecommunications and internet, it is difficult to find a nation where the Gospel has never been preached nowadays. This also means now the End can come any time.

 

This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. ~ Matthew 24:14

 

What is the next sign? I believe this will be the “entrance” of the anti-Christ. When this sign appears, we know that we can start the countdown for the last 7 years.

 

Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4

 

Even though there are already many speculations on who the anti-Christ is, but the Scriptures seem to suggest that the entrance of the anti-Christ will be clear to everyone and cannot be missed. He will show himself as god in such a way that the world will think of him as the saviour, but the true followers of Christ should know that he is the the anti-Christ, the son of perdition. 

 

We do not know when the day and hour will come,

but we surely know that time is short.

So save yourself and your loved ones before it is too late!
